MONROE CENTER, Ohio — Editor's note: Video in the player at the top of this story features team coverage of the lake effect snow from earlier Thursday morning. Wow! That's a lot of snow! Monroe Center in Ashtabula County has seen 17.2' of snow, which the National Weather Service in Cleveland says is the highest reported amount in Northeast Ohio. This big total comes as Ashtabula County received the brunt of heavy lake effect snow during the overnight and early morning hours. All of Ashtabula County was under a level 3 snow emergency earlier Thursday morning, but the sheriff later modified the alert to only include areas north of I-90 – which means roadways within the impacted area are closed to non-emergency travel.
